Evrey morning for 23 years, actually I guess it's now 24 years, I've known exactly what I had to do, what I had to juggle, who I had to cook for, drive somewhere, or problem solve. Well, the problem solving probably won't go away for a long time, but that driving purpose is over. Now it's all about ME, and I love it! I've found what I want to do - something that involves working with people, helping them problem solve, and reaching out to a large audience with the same solutions. What could be better. I discovered my community and now drive and am driven by it. What do you want to do?

As a true "EmptyNexter", my teens (ages 15 and 17) are not yet out of the house. I enjoy every moment we spend together but as they get older, their activities have broadened and they spend less time at "home base". As this happens, I find that I now have more time to get back to some of my "BK" (before kids) passions that have been on the backburner. I've rejoined a book club, my husband and I are getting back to regular cycling afternoons (okay weekends since work still beckons) around Stevens Creek Canyon (although we find our "old bikes" don't take as as far/fast as they used to), and my volunteering has expanded beyond scouting to other activities. I'm not waiting for the nest to be empty to find new purpose -- every day brings a new opportunity. And I continue to enjoy every moment the kids are still in the nest.

p.s. Time for me to call my mom and dad and see how their week has gone!
